The AAMC Graduate Medical Education (GME) program managers wanted to create a promotional video for their GME Leadership Development Certificate Program. This video would give potential applicants — leaders in medical education — a quick overview of the program and its benefits and encourage them to apply.
As a co-producer, I wrote interview questions designed to elicit responses needed to show the program’s value to potential participants.
The GME program management team lined up interview subjects — course instructors, all of whom had gone through the program themselves. We had only one day to shoot the interview. I partnered with AAMC’s multimedia producer to complete the shoot.
As the producer manned the video cameras, I interviewed the course instructors and asked follow-up questions when I wanted to draw out the type of responses needed to promote the program.
There’s nothing like seeing a project go from initial idea to reality. The end result is a video that is engaging and informative. It’s too soon to measure the effectiveness of the video, as promotion for next year’s cohort of participants has not yet begun.
